Our use of cookies

We place cookies on your device when you visit our website. Cookies are small text files (pieces of software) that, when placed on your device, help to make our website work properly. They can also be used to provide information to us and third parties about what you browse on our site and to help us to improve user experience on the site.

This Cookie Notice explains in more detail what specific cookies we use, what information is collected by them and for what purposes, and how long they last on your device.

Note that certain cookies we place on your device are what are called Strictly Necessary Cookies – they are essential to make our website work properly.  Our legal basis for placement of these cookies is our legitimate interests in ensuring that our website works properly.

Note that other cookies we use (what are called non-essential cookies) are only placed on your device if you specifically consent to this. This means that these non-essential cookies are defaulted to the “off” position in our Manage Cookies tool and you have to scroll them to the “on” position or click “Accept All Cookies” in order for them to be placed on your device.

More details about the cookies we use

The table below provides more information about all of the cookies that we use and why.

Third party cookies

You will see in the above table that we use certain third-party cookies. Third-party cookies are cookies that are set by someone else for their own purposes, e.g. for collecting information about your use of their service or for directing personalised advertising to you when you browse the internet. When you use our website, you may encounter linked content (e.g. a link to a third-party website) or embedded content (e.g. a YouTube video embedded on our website). These third-party websites and embedded content may use their own cookies. We do not have control over the placement of cookies by other websites, even if they are linked from our website and you should review the cookies notices of these websites for more information.

How to manage and delete cookies

You can use our Manage Cookies tool to manage the placement of non-essential cookies on your device. This tool will record your consents. It will ask you for consent again quarterly, to ensure that you are up to date on any changes to our Cookie Notice and/or Privacy Notice. Essential cookies cannot be disabled using the tool, nor can the tool be used to block cookies placed from any third-party websites that are linked from our site.

You can also manage cookies from your device’s browser settings.  To do this, you will need to follow the instructions in the “Help”, “Tools” or “Edit” menus of your device’s browser.  Please note that disabling a cookie or category of cookies does not delete any cookies already placed on your device unless you make these deletions manually using your browser function.
